Review: La Passione Prestige Bib Shorts
(2021) New bib day is always exciting, especially after months of uncertainty and withholding kit purchases. Over the past year-and-a-half, cyclists have flogged their regular kits via trainer workouts. Slowly they have become see-through if they weren’t already. Some held out hope for a race kit to become available but with races an uncertainty, deadlines passed by. In the meantime we kept ordering up the ladder of La Passione bib quality, reaching nearly the top with their Prestige bibs.
Excited is certainly the emotion to describe how it felt to receive La Passione’s line of Prestige bib shorts. As with their other offerings we have reviewed, La Passione’s selection of fabrics are quality Italian offerings. With fewer seams than their Club Bib Shorts, Prestige hugs the body instantly and stays put for long days in the saddle. The quality construction is felt every time we have slipped them on, whether it’s a hot day, a wet day, or a cooler ride. The minimum amount of seams add to the compression, which is constant from start to finish.
What would a bib review be without mentioning the chamois? Here La Passione gets it right again. The bib is ultra smooth while hammering away to keep the wheel in the paceline. It’s also been found to be rather comfortable when walking around in places like the service course or the coffee shop. On our wet rides, the breathable material wicked moisture away to prevent the dreaded diaper feeling/ appearance.
As we have mentioned, we are immense fans of the flat shoulder straps that delineate the difference between bibs and shorts. Finally more companies are embracing the sturdy wide straps that leads to forgetting we are even wearing fabric up and over the shoulder. These satisfying straps attach to the waistline at both the smooth Italian fabric as well as the mesh lining around the flanks. These are well-researched bibs and it shows.
We added more Livery jerseys to our cycling closet through a La Passione order, but we have been looking forward to reasons for donning the Prestige bib shorts. It’s no mistake each ride gets longer and more daring on account of comfort. When bib shorts are perfectly comfortable, suddenly rides have endless possibilities.
